Power-to-price framing

Range Rover Velar carries 247 bhp at roughly RM 4.9 per horsepower per day. Forced induction means peak torque arrives low and stays flat, so overtakes happen in whatever gear you are already in.

Held on your card, not charged. It scales with what this car costs to repair rather than with what it costs to rent — a forged wheel and a bespoke tyre size are the reason the figure looks like that.

About Range Rover

Air suspension, a silent cabin, and genuine off-road engineering nobody uses.

The Range Rover invented the luxury SUV in 1970 and every rival in the category is, in some sense, a response to it. The founding idea was radical at the time: take proper off-road capability — permanent four-wheel drive, long-travel coil suspension, a separate chassis — and wrap it in something a family would be happy to arrive at a hotel in. Nobody had combined those things before and the formula has proven almost impossible to improve on.

RM / bhp is the daily self-drive rate divided by the manufacturer’s brake horsepower, to one decimal. It is a blunt instrument — it ignores tyre width, kerb weight and where the torque actually lives — and it is still the fastest way to see what a badge is charging you. Power bars are scaled against 261 bhp.
