Driving and delivering in Bangsar

Bangsar is our shortest run from the yard and one of the easiest handovers in the Klang Valley, with one large caveat: the speed humps. Jalan Telawi, Jalan Maarof's side roads and most of Bukit Bandaraya are peppered with the tall, narrow, square-shouldered kind, not the gentle sinusoidal profile. In a car with a 90mm front splitter you take those at a diagonal, at walking pace, one wheel at a time. We show you the technique at handover because the alternative is a cracked lip and a conversation nobody enjoys.

Once you are out of the residential grid it gets good quickly. Jalan Bangsar into the Federal Highway is two minutes, and the Federal at 22:00 on a weeknight is a clean, wide, well-lit four-lane run west that is the fastest legal way out of the city towards Shah Alam and the coast. Going the other way, Jalan Maarof to Jalan Damansara to the Sprint gives you the Penchala Link, and that tunnel is worth the toll on its own if the car has any kind of exhaust.

Telawi valet is the other thing to plan. The restaurants around Jalan Telawi 2 and 3 all run valet after 19:00 and the runners are generally competent, but a supercar with a heavy clutch and a stiff nose is not what they drive every night. Our advice is simple: park it yourself in the Bangsar Village or BV2 basement, take the lift up, and keep the keys. The insurance excess on a kerbed wheel is not worth the eight-ringgit convenience.

RM / bhp is the daily self-drive rate divided by the manufacturer’s brake horsepower, to one decimal. It is a blunt instrument — it ignores tyre width, kerb weight and where the torque actually lives — and it is still the fastest way to see what a badge is charging you. Power bars are scaled against 565 bhp.

Bangsar deliveries — asked and answered

How quickly can you deliver a supercar to Bangsar?+

We quote 60 minutes, kerbside or residence from confirmation, and the run from our Subang Jaya base takes about 20 minutes off-peak. Book the day before if the handover point is a condominium — visitor plate registration is the thing that slows deliveries down, not the drive.

Is there anywhere near Bangsar actually worth driving?+

Speed humps: Frequent, square profile. Nearest highway: Federal / NPE. Yard to Bangsar: 20 min off-peak. For a proper drive, everyone in the Klang Valley ends up on the same four roads — the Karak, the old Genting climb, the Ulu Yam loop and the Guthrie Corridor. Our route write-up covers what each one is actually like.

Do I need to be present for the handover in Bangsar?+

Yes. The named driver has to be there with the licence, the IDP if you are visiting, and the card for the deposit hold. We film the walkaround inspection with you present and send you the file before we leave — that video protects you more than it protects us.
