How it works

The detail

A car that never leaves a location does not need the same rate as one being driven three hundred kilometres, so we price static content work separately. A half-day static block gets you the car, a driver to position it, and someone who can be trusted to reverse a wide low car onto a mark repeatedly without kerbing a wheel. Rolling shots — tracking from another vehicle, or the hero car being driven on camera — are priced differently again because the risk profile changes.

Location matters more than most first-time bookers expect. Putrajaya's ceremonial boulevards give you monumental symmetry and no traffic on a Sunday morning, but Perbadanan Putrajaya take a dim view of tripods on the main precincts without a permit, so the Precinct 4 and 5 side roads are the pragmatic choice. Cyberjaya's overbuilt tech-park roads are wide, empty and freshly surfaced. For grit and texture, the Section 23 industrial estate in Shah Alam and the container approach at Port Klang are both excellent and neither has ever given us a problem.

Timing is everything and it is unforgiving here. Kuala Lumpur is one degree north of the equator, which means sunrise and sunset happen fast and the golden window is genuinely twenty minutes, not the hour photographers get in temperate latitudes. Blue hour is shorter still. We build shoot blocks around that: 06:15 call for a 07:00 sunrise, or 18:30 call for a 19:20 blue hour, with everything staged and the car cleaned before the light arrives.

Cleaning is included in the block for content work. The car arrives detailed, and we bring a drying towel, quick detailer and a blower for between setups, because a supercar with water spots on it in 4K is a wasted afternoon. If your shoot involves smoke, water, sand, food, livery wrap or anything applied to the paint, tell us at booking. Some of it we can accommodate with preparation. Some of it we cannot, and it is far better to find out in the enquiry than on the day.

RM / bhp is the daily self-drive rate divided by the manufacturer’s brake horsepower, to one decimal. It is a blunt instrument — it ignores tyre width, kerb weight and where the torque actually lives — and it is still the fastest way to see what a badge is charging you. Power bars are scaled against 740 bhp.

Asked and answered

Do you allow the car to be wrapped or badged for a shoot?+

Temporary vinyl and magnetic badging on flat panels is usually fine with prior approval and professional application. Nothing adhesive goes on carbon fibre, and nothing goes on at all without us seeing the plan first.

Can we shoot at night with the car running?+

Yes. Long idles are hard on a hot supercar, so we schedule cool-down intervals and do not leave it running for two hours, and we bring a driver who will manage that for you.
