Self-Drive vs Chauffeur

Self-drive is the default and it is what most enthusiasts want, for the obvious reason that the whole point of a naturally aspirated V10 is being the one operating it. You take the deposit hold, you carry the insurance excess, you are the named driver, and the car is yours for the block. It costs less than the chauffeured equivalent because you are supplying the labour and accepting the risk.

Chauffeured is a different product wearing the same bodywork. There is no deposit hold because you are not liable for the car, the excess sits with us, and the vehicle comes with someone who drives it every week and knows exactly where the splitter is. It is priced by the hour with a minimum block, and it works out more expensive per hour and considerably cheaper in worry. It also solves several problems self-drive cannot: guests under 23, visitors without an International Driving Permit, anyone who intends to drink, and any event where the car needs to circulate and drop people repeatedly.

The honest decision framework is this. Take self-drive if you hold a Malaysian licence or a valid IDP, you are over 23 with two clean years, you have driven something powerful before, and the point of the day is the driving. Take a chauffeur if the point of the day is arriving, if the schedule involves alcohol, if you have never driven anything wider than a Civic and the first outing is going to be down a Mont Kiara basement ramp in front of thirty people, or if the deposit hold on a supercar would be genuinely inconvenient on your card.

There is a hybrid we run more often than you would think: chauffeured for the evening event, self-drive for the following morning. The driver brings the car, handles the arrival and the drop-offs, then hands you the keys at the end of the night with the deposit taken then, not at the start. You get the relaxed evening and the 07:00 empty-roads drive, which is the correct order to do those two things in.
