Power-to-price framing

Toyota Alphard Executive Lounge carries 247 bhp at roughly RM 8.1 per horsepower per day. Electrification here is about filling the torque gap and not about saving fuel, so response low down is sharper than a conventionally turbocharged rival.

Held on your card, not charged. It scales with what this car costs to repair rather than with what it costs to rent — a forged wheel and a bespoke tyre size are the reason the figure looks like that.

About Toyota

Two very different arguments: a BMW-engined coupé and the best MPV in Asia.

Toyota's presence in this fleet covers two completely unrelated engineering propositions, and both are worth explaining properly. The GR Supra is the enthusiast car, and its most discussed characteristic is that its engine is a BMW B58 straight-six built in Austria alongside the Z4. Purists complained loudly at launch. They were largely wrong. The B58 is one of the great modern turbocharged sixes, and Gazoo Racing's chassis work — shorter wheelbase than the Z4, stiffer body, its own damper and steering calibration — produces a car that drives nothing like the BMW it shares parts with.

RM / bhp is the daily self-drive rate divided by the manufacturer’s brake horsepower, to one decimal. It is a blunt instrument — it ignores tyre width, kerb weight and where the torque actually lives — and it is still the fastest way to see what a badge is charging you. Power bars are scaled against 247 bhp.
