How it works

The detail

The honest framing first, because you will find out at handover anyway: none of our cars may be taken onto a circuit, a sprint course, a hill climb or any timed event. No rental fleet in Malaysia carries circuit cover, the exclusion is absolute in every policy we have seen, and a single incident at Sepang's Turn 9 would exceed any deposit by an order of magnitude. If you want to drive a supercar on the circuit, book through Sepang International Circuit's own experience programmes, which run on their own cars with their own instructors and their own insurance. That is the correct route and we will happily point you at it.

What we do for track weekends is everything either side of the pit wall. Delivery to the circuit gate on Friday for setup day. The car parked in front of your garage all weekend as a backdrop for sponsor photography and guest hospitality. Transport for the driver and engineers between the paddock, the hotel in Nilai or Cyberjaya, and dinner. Collection on Sunday evening once the trucks have gone.

Sepang is around forty minutes from our Subang base down the ELITE, and the final approach on Jalan Pekeliling Litar is wide, smooth and empty, which makes it the easiest delivery run we do. On race weekends we coordinate paddock passes with your team manager in advance, never by turning up at the gate hoping. On test days we can leave the car with a driver on site for the duration if you would rather not hold the keys yourself.

The cars that get booked for this are predictable and correct: the GT3 because half the paddock will want to look at the flat-six, the Aventador S and Huracán because they photograph like nothing else against a garage door, and the GT-R for teams who want something with genuine motorsport heritage that nobody will feel precious about parking in the sun.

RM / bhp is the daily self-drive rate divided by the manufacturer’s brake horsepower, to one decimal. It is a blunt instrument — it ignores tyre width, kerb weight and where the torque actually lives — and it is still the fastest way to see what a badge is charging you. Power bars are scaled against 740 bhp.

Questions

Asked and answered

Can I take the rental car on track for a sighting lap?+

No. Any circuit running, including parade laps and sighting laps, voids the insurance completely and makes you liable for the full value of the car. There is no version of this we can approve.

Can you deliver during a race weekend when the gates are controlled?+

Yes, but we need the paddock access arrangement confirmed by your team at least 48 hours ahead. Turning up at a controlled gate without it wastes everybody's morning.
