Driving and delivering in Cheras

Cheras is big, busy and criminally underrated by people who only judge an area by its postcode. The main artery, Jalan Cheras, is a fast six-lane road that flows well outside peak, and the SILK and Grand Saga expressways give you clean access south and east without ever going near the city centre. For someone renting a performance car to actually use and not to park outside a restaurant, that connectivity is worth more than a Mont Kiara address.

The genuine attraction is Sungai Long and the roads behind it. The climb up past the golf course towards Bukit Sungai Long and on towards Semenyih is a properly good stretch — undulating, sighted, low traffic outside weekends, and with a surface that has been kept in reasonable condition. It is the nearest thing to a driving road on the south-east side of the Klang Valley, and it does not carry the motorcycle volume that makes the Ulu Yam roads risky on a Sunday.

Delivery across Cheras takes a bit more time than the inner suburbs simply because of distance — budget two hours from confirmation. Landed housing in Taman Connaught, Bandar Tun Hussein Onn and Sungai Long is kerbside handover with no complications. The high-rises along Jalan Cheras want a visitor pass. Watch the surface on the older sections near Taman Midah, where trenching repairs have left a few ridges that a car on 35-profile tyres will find unpleasant.

RM / bhp is the daily self-drive rate divided by the manufacturer’s brake horsepower, to one decimal. It is a blunt instrument — it ignores tyre width, kerb weight and where the torque actually lives — and it is still the fastest way to see what a badge is charging you. Power bars are scaled against 565 bhp.

Cheras deliveries — asked and answered

How quickly can you deliver a supercar to Cheras?+

We quote 2 hours, cheras to sungai long from confirmation, and the run from our Subang Jaya base takes about 45 minutes off-peak. Book the day before if the handover point is a condominium — visitor plate registration is the thing that slows deliveries down, not the drive.

Is there anywhere near Cheras actually worth driving?+

Highways: SILK / Grand Saga / MRR2. Best drive: Sungai Long to Semenyih. Surface watch: Taman Midah trenching. For a proper drive, everyone in the Klang Valley ends up on the same four roads — the Karak, the old Genting climb, the Ulu Yam loop and the Guthrie Corridor. Our route write-up covers what each one is actually like.

Do I need to be present for the handover in Cheras?+

Yes. The named driver has to be there with the licence, the IDP if you are visiting, and the card for the deposit hold. We film the walkaround inspection with you present and send you the file before we leave — that video protects you more than it protects us.
