Yes, at handover, and they must be present with their own documents and meet the same age and licence-history criteria as the primary renter. An unnamed driver at the wheel voids cover entirely, which means the full value of the car sits with you and not with the insurer. It is the single most expensive shortcut anyone takes with a rental.

It is a refundable hold, not a charge, and the amount is printed on every car page — it scales with the replacement cost of the car, not with the daily rate. We release it after the return inspection, typically within three to five working days, and the timing after that belongs to your bank and not to us. Anything deducted is itemised with photographs.

The deposit is our hold against damage, fuel, tolls and fines. The excess is the fixed first portion of any insurance claim that you carry before the policy pays. They are separate numbers and both apply. If you kerb a wheel and the repair is below the excess, it comes out of the deposit and the insurer is never involved.

No, and be suspicious of anyone offering unlimited mileage on a supercar. Every car includes 130 km a day, 910 a week or 4,000 a month — enough for a Genting or Bentong day without thinking about it — with a per-kilometre rate beyond that. No. Circuit running, sprints, hill climbs and timed events are excluded from every insurance policy in the Malaysian rental market, ours included. If you want circuit time, book through Sepang International Circuit's own programmes on their cars with their cover. We will happily drive you down and park in front of your garage all weekend.

Leave the gearbox in full automatic, leave a two-car gap so you roll instead of creeping, and never hold the car stationary on an incline with the throttle — use the brake and let the hill-hold do its job. Dual-clutch gearboxes manage creep by slipping a clutch pack, and slipping it for forty minutes in 34-degree heat is what actually kills them.
